mini spring break

there are a lot of things that they don’t prepare you for once you leave school.  so when may of your graduating year rolls around, here is some safe advice to adhere to:  take everything you’ve learned in the past 22 years about class, homework/exams, vacation, and skipping class and go ahead and chuck it out the window.  because unless you go on to become a teacher, your life is going to look nothing like it did before.  there are no summer vacations, month-long christmas breaks, 4 hour school days followed by parties and staying up until 1am.

depressing huh?  but fear not – this post has a happy ending.  because sometimes – if you play your cards right – you can tag along with someone who IS still on a school schedule and live vicariously through them.  and then, all is well in the world again.

that’s exactly what ross and i were able to do this year (jobs do have some vacation, people.  you’ve just got to work it to your advantage).  ross’s bff from when he was a kid is now in Med School.  and subsequently had a week long spring break.  siigh.  now don’t get me wrong – in this scenario, i would not – not – want to trade places with scott under any circumstances.   and i’m sure all his future patients would wholeheartedly agree.  but when he and his wife invited us down to hilton head for a long weekend, i hopped back into my ratty collegiate attire, affixed my beer bong hat to my head (just kidding, dad!) and said “show me the way!”

it was just what we needed.  we were able to relax, catch up, cook some good food, and even catch a few rays.
